Title: Nature
Medium: Organic vs. Industrial
Exhibition text:
I made a summer tree out of crayons, to show my love for nature, summer and colors. Nature blooms the biggest during summer, that's why I chose to make a tree during that season. The green crayons represent the leaves and the brown crayons on the bottom are the trunk of the tree.

Artist inspiration:
My artist inspiration was a painting by Vincent Van Gogh which is called Mulberry tree. What I wanted to do for this sculpture was do something with nature like I did for my previous art pieces. To show a connection between all of them. I used the same colors as Van Gogh's painting, the tree is in the summer season due to the color of the leaves, which are green. That's why I put the crayons color green to represent that the tree is in the summer season.

Process:
First what I did was come up with the idea that I wanted to get across, what I wanted it to represent. First I came up with the idea to make a flower out of something. After the first idea that I had, I came up with the idea to still have the same meaning behind it but be a different thing. Instead of doing a flower I did a tree, which at the end of the day it will represent nature as well as the flower did. When I came up with that idea, I was looking around my house for industrial things I could find. I saw the crayons and started right away to think of ways I could glue them and make them look like a tree. I had to glue them from the paper wrapped around because that was the only thing that worked with hot glue. Then I did some sketches of plants to give me some ideas.

Reflection:
Some of the struggles that I faced while doing this project were that it was hard to glue the crayons together because even though the paper wrapped around them did allow them to stick with each other they did fall apart because they weren't strong enough. Also when I tried to glue a lot together they fell, they couldn't hold more than one crayon at a time. That's the reason why I couldn't put more crayons into my piece because they would just fall out.
