Title: In deep thought
Medium: Painting
Exhibition text: From time to time I like to stop and think about everything that is going on around. I get lost in the thoughts, which is what I'm doing in this painting by starring at space in a swing. When I want to think, I like being alone to think about what ever I want without someone interfering in my thoughts.

Artist Inspiration:
My inspiration was "Starry Night" by Van Gogh. I did the background inspired by that painting, to represent my mind in the process of thought. By doing swirls in the middle, it's how my mind was spinning around because of how confused I am sometimes in life.

Process:
The first thing I did was paint the background purple, then I started to do the swirls for the background with light purple, dark purple, brown, and yellow. I did swirls in the corners of the background too. Then I painted the rest of the area dark purple. Since I was inspired by the painting "Starry Night" by Van Gogh I had to do short paint strokes instead of long ones. When I was done with the background I let it dry and when it was dry already I started the tree on right corner and made the top part go to the left. I made the tree black as well as myself in the swing. I made my self in a swing to show how concentrated I am.

Reflection:
I was happy with the result of my painting but something I could of done better was to use even shorter brush strokes for the background to show more movement in it. Also to give more detail to the tree and make it look more realistic and also to the swing and myself. Next time I would of done everything the same technique as the background to make everything have movement, and that way everything would flow together. But even though I didn't use the best kind of brush strokes for the background, I think you can still see the movement with the bigger brush strokes.

ACT questions:
1) The cause-effect relationship between my inspiration and the effect upon my artwork is that it makes it look like they are made by the same person and they transmit almost the same idea.
2) The overall approach of the author I'm inspired by is to capture the idea of how people see the sky.
3) What I have discovered while doing my research is that all of Van Gogh's paintings have the same painting techniques, he just sticks to one.
4) The central idea of theme around my inspirational research is the idea of loneliness which is what I want to capture in this painting.
5) The conclusions that I made while reading my research was that Van Gogh had a very important meaning behind every painting he did.
