Title: Mind
Medium: Sacred Vessel
Exhibition text:
What I did was a brain inside a cage, by doing that I'm saying that my mind is sacred to me. Your mind is one of the most important things about yourself, everything you say and do comes from their mind. The mind is one of the most beautiful things in someone. That's why I made it pink with swirls to represent creativity as well.

Artist inspiration:
I was inspired by Andy Warhol's piece because of the use of bright colors that he puts into his artwork. The art work that I was inspired by him was Marilyn Monroe. He did a collage of 9 of these pictures but I was inspired by one of them which was the pink one, and that's why I painted the brain that color.

Process:
The first thing I had to do was make clay to start making my piece, When I had the brain all done then I had to make a hole on the bottom of the piece, so that way when I fired it, it wouldn't blow up and not work anymore, When I was done making the hole I had to wait till it was dry so that way I could fire it, When it was all fired and done I had to mix different colors to make it look like the color of the brain, when I was done mixing the colors it came out pink. After painting the brain and let it dry I came up with the idea to make a cage, I used hot glue strings to make the cage, out of that. I made almost like a grid on top of the brain to make it look like a cage.

Reflection:
Some of the struggles that I faced during the making of this artwork were that I couldn't come up with the right color to paint the brain with, I didn't want it super pink and that's how it came out. I wanted it to be pink/orange to make it the actual color of a brain and that way it can look more like a brain. Another struggle was that I didn't want to put a cage anymore because it didn't capture the idea that I wanted to get across, then I decided to make like a net/cage out of hot glue strings.
